IRS Issues Warning of Possible Refund Delays in 2017

Tax professionals are alerting their clients that a new law requires the IRS to hold refunds until mid-February 2017 for people claiming the Earned Income Tax Credit or the Additional Child Tax Credit. In addition, new identity theft and refund fraud safeguards put in place by the IRS and the states may mean some tax returns and refunds face additional review.

City of Chicago Adjusts Local Minimum Wage Standards

Back in 2014, Mayor Rahm Emanuel passed a City of Chicago ordinance which called for the steady increase in minimum wage standards for employers whose business facility is within City of Chicago limits and/or those employers who are required to carry a City of Chicago business license. The rates are as follows:

1)  January 1st, 2016 - $10.50/hr
2) January 1st, 2017 - $11.00/hr
