A Registered Investment Advisor (RIA), is an entity who performs advisory services for a fee. Much like you would pay an attorney for his/her advice and expertise on legal issues, you would pay an RIA firm, for advice and expertise on money management issues.
RIA's are regulated by the Secretary of State, Department of Securities, in Illinois.
If the RIA firm has more than $25,000,000.00 in Assets Under Management (AUM), then the firm will be regulated by the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).
Currently, Eddie Patel, Inc. is regulated at the State Department level.
